“Seek and Save the Lost”

“Seek and Save the Lost”

Text: Luke 19:1-10

Point One:  Divine Appointment

Luke 4:42-43 – At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them.43 But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”

John 4:33-34 – Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.

Point Two:  Changed by Grace

Luke 18:22,27 – When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”… Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

Luke 14:33 – In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.

Matthew 13:44-46 – “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

Exerpt from “You Can” by Building 429 – “I can’t walk on the water. I can’t stand in the fire. Unless I look into Your eyes. Unless I have You by my side. Can’t conquer a giant or shut the mouth of a lion. I know that I am just a man. But I am in Your hands, and You can.”

Point Three:  Why Jesus Came

Galatians 3:7-9 – Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”[d] So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

Luke 4:18-19 – “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Luke 15:20 – So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.”
