The Way Home, Day 4

The Way Home, Day 4

Written by Todd Law

The son started his speech: “Father, I’ve sinned against God, I’ve sinned before you; I don’t deserve to be called your son ever again.”  But the father wasn’t listening.                                                                                                                         -Luke 15:21-22

Most of the time we think we know best.  We believe that God can’t possibly forgive us or love us because of something that we have done.  We think we know the best way to make things right with God, but – quite bluntly – God doesn’t care what you think when it comes to forgiveness and reconciliation…He already has it figured out.  In addition, He doesn’t want to listen to your opinions on making things right.  In fact, He doesn’t want you to do anything except let Him love you.  He’s made all the arrangements.  God has sent His Son to die on the cross for all of us.  Let Him handle this week….just make yourself available and love others while letting God love you.

Although the details and arrangements of the trip are essential, don’t dwell in them.  Don’t stress if things don’t go exactly how you had planned on the field or off the field during your time in Germany.  God has things planned that you can’t possibly imagine.  He has an encounter or a conversation that you are not going to see coming.  He has a kid (or an adult) that is not like you that you are going to get to know this week, and He will use you to plant a seed in their life or help them grow as a Christian.  Be flexible.  God knows best – not you.
